We are enjoying the stillness before Trinity Term, with its hordes of anxious examinees and then its avalanche of marking – less now than it used to be, and more evenly distributed through the year, but still Hilary Davidson is an Australian historian, who has specialized on the dress and textiles of the Georgian period. In 2019 she published Dress in the Age of Jane Austen. I trained initially as a medieval historian at the University of Oxford and I continue to retain an interest in forms of belief across the Latin, Greek and Arabic cultures of the medieval world.
